How to Find Free Things on the Web

by BusyMomCentral

There are several ways to find things for free, aka "freebies", on the internet. But, as your mother told you, there is no such thing as a truly free lunch. So the first thing you need to do in order to take advantage of free things on the internet is to register for a freebie email account. Hotmail is my personal favorite, but you can choose whatever service works best for you. Use this email account everytime you request a free item.

Now that you have an email account, it is time to start looking:
If you know of a specific item that you want to find, try typing "free _____________" into your favorite search engine. You may be suprised at what you find.

If you are just looking for something free in a general category, or if you just want to know what is out there, type "freebies" into your favortie search engine. No doubt, you will get a page or two of freebie websites. Check a few of them out and you will see most are divided into categories.

Sign up for whatever interests you. If the item is coming in the mail, you will need to provide a mailing address. You do not have to put your real name in the box if you prefer not to give up that information. But in reality, you name and mailing address on already online and the worst that can happen is that you get more junk mail in the mailbox.

You may have to provide your email in order to qualify to receive the free item. At this time, you brain may be saying 'SPAM ALERT'. But it is ok - remember to use your newly acquired junk email address. If your free item is going to be emailed, don't forget to check the new email box to retrieve it.

If you like the site you visit, you may want to sign up for their free newsletter. You will be notified by email of any changes to the freebies site and usually to new freebies that have become available.

Many times you may be signing up for a free trial of an ongoing service. If you like the service, then you can keep it. But if you prefer to cancel, make sure you follow the instructions carefully so that you do not end up paying for something you do not want.
